The Way Station serves as a connecter. We connect resources donated by individuals and organizations with the needs of disenfranchised community members. Without YOU, we could not provide for the food, clothing and shelter needs of the community.
Food Ministry: The Way Station provides those emergency food assistance. Food is provided by area individuals, churches and organizations as well as by the local Second Harvest Foodbank. The Way Station also provides consumers with sample menus and recipes for utilizing USDA products in the preparation of healthy, tasty meals.The Way Station distributes food through a Choice Pantry system, individuals and families "shop" in our pantries to assure that they are provided with foods that they can and want to use. Please contact The Way Station nearest you to schedule an appointment to "shop" for food.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FEED OUR HUNGRY NEIGHBORS: If you or an organization you are associated with is interested in hosting a food drive please contact The Way Station nearest you. Our Wish List of Foods includes:
- Canned vegetables and fruits
- Pasta products
- Tomato products
- Peanut butter
- Tuna and canned food
- Cereals
- Boxed meals
- Canned and bottled juices
- Fresh vegetables
- Eggs
- Milk products
- Frozen meat
We also provide personal care and hygiene products through our pantry. Our Wish List for such items includes:
- Adult diapers
- Infant diapers
- Feminine hygiene products
- Shampoo
- Soaps
- Deodorant
- Toothbrushes
- Toothpaste
- Hair care products
Clothing Ministry: The Way Station provides clothing and other household items to those in need in the community. The Way Station links donated clothing and household goods to those in need. Clothing and other necessary items are available free of charge. The Columbiana Way Station provides customers with a selection of career clothing suitable for office workers and those who are interviewing for employment. Clothing is displayed by type and size - our selection includes something for everyone!
We need YOUR help to help our neighbors in need. The Way Station accepts gently used, clean clothing at all locations.
Shelter Ministry: The Way Station can provide limited emergency housing for those in need through a guest house or local hotels. The Way Station can also make referrals to local agencies and churches for financial assistance with mortgage, rent and utility payments.
